Easter Weather

April 12th, 2018

Nice Weather image

As per last week’s blog, “Easter Blues”, the weather this Easter has been terrible. This weekend is the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Don’t let this put you off punting because lightning doesn’t strike twice and the weather this weekend is forecast hot with no icebergs.

What we are looking forward to

Sunny April days offer the perfect punting conditions. Whatever the time of day expect beautiful views of the colleges with light shimmering on the river which reflects beneath the bridges. Whilst on your punt you can run your fingers through the water. If it gets really hot, folks will enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool river.

Evenings in the sun

If you’re punting in the afternoon, you may wish to relax with your favourite tipple. At the end of the day, people gather on the Quayside to watch the sun go down behind Magdalene College. Arrive early to claim your place on the river bank, because this is a popular place to enjoy an end of day beer. Alternatively, you could have a barbecue at Jesus Green, where they have specially place stones to protect the grass. Of course, you could consider and evening punt tour and chase the setting sun.
