May week is the celebration held by the Cambridge University colleges at the end of the academic year. In the present day it is held in June but still carries the traditional name. It’s been a busy week for us as we have been involved with the Bumps and the May balls.
This year we sponsored Magdalene College boat club, who put in a very strong performance moving up four places overall. On the final Saturday, we put on a free ferry service for their supporters.
We had the privilege of helping organise the punting for Clare May Ball this year. It was a great experience and our chauffeurs enjoyed dressing up in tuxedos, some even got a chance to experience the other magical facilities. The picture shows some punting the morning after.
This year was a sell out for both nights. Luckily the weather was also fantastic. Both colleges put on an incredible display which seemed bigger, louder and better than the year before. New to 2018 was a water fountain display that looked magical. As a result, we will be issuing umbrellas to any late departures next year.
