Shared Punting Tours on the River Cam

Due to social distancing measures, all shared tour tickets will be allocated exclusive rows of 4 seats. This means that your group’s heads will be over 1 meter from other guests and your driver, or a screen will separate you. We specify heads because your feet may be closer to other customers. When booking groups of 4 large adults, we suggest booking an extra row as seating is tight due to modifications made for social distancing. Please see our page on COVID 19 for more information.

Booking online vs Booking in person

Booking a shared tour ticket gives you the peace of mind that you will be able to depart when you want to.

Not booking a ticket leaves you liable for a long delay. During busy times of the year and most weekend afternoons, it is normal for all the punting companies to be scheduling tours for two hours in advance. Equally, during slower times, not pre-booking will typically lead to a 40-minute delay in order to find more passengers for you to share with.

Booking online has become more and more popular since COVID 19, as a result, there is less saving when booking online. During the slower periods, it is sometimes cheaper to negotiate with staff in person. During busier periods it is always more expensive on the day as staff stick rigidly to the prices, £22.50 per adult is a good example.
